About Me

Kimberlyn Bennett, LCSW (she/her/hers)

Hello there! My name is Kimberlyn Bennett, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have had the privilege of working with diverse populations in various settings, including non-profit therapeutic environments, schools, outpatient facilities, and behavioral health hospitals. My approach to therapy is client-centered and strength-based, as I firmly believe that every individual possesses the internal wisdom to heal and thrive. Sometimes, all that's needed is a little guidance to unlock that potential.

I specialize in trauma-focused therapy, and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I have extensive experience supporting survivors of sexual assault, after working at the non-profit The Blue Bench for 4 1/2 years. This continues to be a population I’m passionate about working with.

Additionally, I offer support for a range of concerns including life transitions, anxiety, depression, gender identity, LGBTQIA+ support, phobias, PTSD, stress, trauma, and intimate/romantic relationships. My eclectic therapeutic style allows me to draw from various modalities to tailor my interventions to meet the unique needs of each client. In our sessions, you can expect a gentle and compassionate approach, infused with a touch of humor. I find that humor can be incredibly healing and helps to create a comfortable and open environment for our work together. My goal is to provide a safe space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make positive changes in your life.

Outside of being a therapist, I enjoy being a pet-parent to a cat (Nilla) and dog (Paisley) (they often make appearances during sessions!), being in nature, reading a good book, writing poetry, crafting, trying a new recipe, playing music, and enjoying a cup of tea. I also work part-time at a local university conducting qualitative research on collective trauma.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you and support you on your journey to well-being.
